Annie Tomlinson
Psychology and Behaviour Advisor
I originally started my job at David Lewis to gain more experience and knowledge after graduating with a degree in Psychology. I have now been here a total of 9 years and have never looked back. During this time I’ve had a variety of different roles including; care officer, team leader, accredited trainer in Positive Behaviour Management, Training and Development officer, and Psychology and Behaviour Advisor. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the support from David Lewis, through extra training and sponsorship for courses. The opportunities are endless, I gained at least 7 different qualifications during my time here all of which has been funded through David Lewis and gave me the opportunity to pursue my career in psychology.

Progress
We are committed to achieving high levels of organisational performance and will support you effectively through regular supervision (one-to-one sessions). In addition, you will have an annual Performance Development Review to identify ways to continuously improve in your role. We also encourage people to work towards vocational and other professional qualifications via a range of college, university and training programmes.
When you join David Lewis as a Care Officer you will undertake the nationally recognised Care Certificate, which stays with you throughout your career. All employees are able to apply for funding to complete a range of qualifications through our annual sponsorship programme.

At David Lewis we are always looking for ways to improve and develop. Our on-site training centre and dedicated training team allows us to deliver a range of courses that can be tailored to ensure we respond to the changing needs of our Service Users and up-to-the-minute care practices.
Learn
As a new employee, you will attend a comprehensive induction training programme to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to succeed in your role. You will have the chance to observe and practice skills and will have a mentor to provide guidance along the way. Following induction, we provide you with regular training and refresher training days to ensure your skills are up-to-date. We also offer opportunities to develop further through our Career Paths.
“The training package here is like nothing I’ve seen anywhere else, because it is so comprehensive. The 17 day induction really prepares you for working in care and gives you a great basis to build on.”
