there is a meaningful role for everyone.
DL Local & Jo Jo’s Plaice
Through a total communication approach, the roles within these areas, promote independence and build confidence. This enables the individual to gain an understanding and skills within customer service, problem solving, money management and food hygiene. All whilst developing teamwork and friendships
all within David Lewis community.
Work Based Activities
Jo Jo’s Plaice, is an excellent Cafe for the people we support, families, employees and visitors.
As well as being renowned for its exceptional service and diverse menu,
Jo Jo’s Plaice also provides work based activities and learning opportunities
for the people we support, where a range of skills can be developed, including:
- Customer service, which includes taking orders and serving customers;
- Money management, which includes processing orders through the till
and taking payment for orders - Managing communications… special offers, what’s new? Customer satisfaction surveys, creating flyers, Menus (in Print)
- Cleaning and setting up of the cafe
- Food preparation, Breakfast menu and afternoon light bites
- Health and safety and food quality guidelines
David Lewis Local when entering our shop you are greeted by smiling faces and a warm welcome from our sales associates.
With shelves filled to the top with confectionary, snacks and tasty sandwiches and pies. Along with crafts and books created and written by the people we support the David Lewis Local has a noticeably warm and friendly atmosphere.
Our shop also provides work based activities and learning opportunity for the people we support, where a range of skills can be developed, including:
- Customer service, which includes taking orders and serving customers;
- Money management, which includes processing orders through the till and taking payment for orders.
- Managing the online ordering system
- Delivery service
- Stock taking
- Ordering stock
- Shelf stacking/Stock rotation
